Religious Education Teacher (Secondary)

This award is open to primary and secondary teachers of Religious Education, including leaders who are teaching in this learning area. 

The nominee is someone who inspires students in their religious self-understanding and spiritual awareness through consistently delivering high quality teaching and learning in Religious Education, the learning area at the heart of our Catholic schools.

Nominations for this award can be made by teaching colleagues, school principals, parent bodies or individuals. Nominations must have the support of the school principal to be accepted for consideration by the selection panel.

There will be one award each presented to a:

  • primary teacher
  • secondary teacher (including teachers of the SACE)

Selection Criteria:

The nominee should:

  1. Show passion and enthusiasm for the Religious Education learning area.
  2. Engage students through effective pedagogies underpinned by a contemporary understanding of the Catholic Tradition.
  3. Contextualise Religious Education learning for their students in a way that is relevant, and inclusive of all learners.
  4. Apply CESA’s Crossways Curriculum to design learning which inspires a transformation of head, heart, and hands.
  5. Demonstrate a spirit of generosity in sharing Religious Education skills and understandings with others.
