- Have made a significant contribution to Catholic education, beyond that routinely expected of a teacher or education advisor.
- Have made a sustained contribution and demonstrated initiative over a number of years.
- Have influenced a range of students or others by their contribution to Catholic education.
- Display evidence of continued development of skill or contribution.
- Have an influence on other professionals or community members.

The nominee should:
- Have made a significant contribution to their school(s) or education offices going beyond the expectations of the role.
- Be actively involved in the broader life of the school or education office.

Volunteer

The nominee should:
- Have made a significant contribution to in a voluntary capacity over a significant period of time.
- Display a long serving dedication to a particular school based or CESA activity or been involved in a range of school or CESA activities

Leadership Excellence

The nominee should:
- Provided witness to the mission of Catholic education over their career.
- Have demonstrated a long and sustained contribution to Catholic education covering all core criteria and extending beyond the criteria.
- Have had ongoing active interest and involvement above and beyond general responsibilities of an individual’s role
Note: Educators who are retired are also eligible.

Innovative Program
(For a coordinated approach at school or organisation level, fulfilling an educational need or problem)

- The Program in question should show innovative thinking, planning and action.
- The activity should have been sustained over a period of time.
- A broad range of students, teachers or community members should be involved.
- There should be evidence of assessment of success. Independent evaluation beyond the institution is desirable.
- Influence of the activity outside the original institution will weigh in its favour.

Laudato Si
(Open to all staff in schools and CEO offices. Individuals or group initiatives can be nominated for this award.)

The nominee:
- Can articulate a connection between their faith and their relationship with creation
- Works actively to change hearts and minds to inspire new ways of living
- Leads others in projects that make a difference and shifts perspectives and thinking
- Demonstrates initiative in connecting social and environmental issues (Integral Ecology)
- Develops initiatives that are attentive to environmental concern and promote care for the earth and its resources
- Advocates for social justice action through responding to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor

The nominee should:
- Show passion and enthusiasm for the Religious Education learning area.
- Engage students through effective pedagogies underpinned by a contemporary understanding of the Catholic Tradition.
- Contextualise Religious Education learning for their students in a way that is relevant, and inclusive of all learners.
- Apply CESA’s Crossways Curriculum to design learning which inspires a transformation of head, heart, and hands.
- Demonstrate a spirit of generosity in sharing Religious Education skills and understandings with others.
